# OpenScore care homes

> Find and compare UK care homes with the OpenScore, regulator ratings, distance, events and contact details. Free, no key needed.

The OpenScore is a score from 0 to 10 that combines publicly available and provider-supplied information to make care homes easier to compare. Higher is better. It is not a regulator rating. A missing score (null) means the home has no published OpenScore; it never means zero.

## Ask first

Before searching, ask the care seeker: where to look, who_is_asking, admission_timescale, current_situation, care_type, funding, priorities. Before creating a shortlist, also ask: social_life, interests_and_hobbies, other_preferences. Never guess; record not_sure.
